Nancy Foster

Nancy Foster is Senior Associate Director, Health Policy, American Hospital Association, providing policy guidance on issues of health care quality and safety on behalf of the more than 5000 member hospitals of AHA. She is responsible for development and coordination of the Hospital Quality Measurement and Improvement Initiative that will supply useful information to the public about the quality of care provided by hospitals and assistance to hospitals so that they may improve their performance.

Ms. Foster previously was Coordinator, Quality Activities, with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality where she managed daily operations of two Federal initiatives to advance health care quality and coordinated research on patient safety and quality. Other experience includes affiliation with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Generalist Physician Faculty Scholars Program, U.S. Naval Hospital in Japan, the New Jersey Department of Health, and other private sector organizations.

She has an economics degree from Princeton University and has co-authored publications and received many awards and honors.
