What are the Key Statistics from NHANES?

These statistics represent the most up-to-date and acurate published estimates of the prevalence of health conditions and diseases in the U.S. population using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The articles and reports cited were authored or reviewed for accuracy by the Division of Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys staff.

How to use the Key Statistics from NHANES

The statistics are organized into topic areas in the left pane. Click a plus sign next to a category to expand it. Click a minus sign to collapse it. Click items without a plus or minus sign (also highlighted in blue) to see the statistics in the right pane.

You can also use keyboard shortcuts to navigate the categories. To focus on the category tree, use Alt+W. To move up and down the tree, use the up and down arrow keys. To expand and collapse categories, use the plus and minus sign keys or right and left arrow keys. To select a final, linked category and return the results, press the Enter key. To move the focus to the results pane after selecting a final category, use Alt+G.
