Component Description

The Smoking – Cigarette Use section (variable name prefix SMQ) provides a brief summary on the history and current use of cigarettes.

Eligible Sample

The questions were asked of youths 12-15 years. Proxy interviews were not conducted.

Interview Setting and Mode of Administration

The Smoking – Cigarette Use questionnaire was asked in the NNYFS Mobile Examination Center (MEC) using the Audio Computer-Assisted Self- Interviewing system (ACASI) and conducted in English and Spanish only.

Data Processing and Editing

The data were reviewed for completeness, consistency, and illogical values.
