What: Officials from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR); the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; and the Oregon Department of Human Services, Public Health Branch, want to meet with area anglers to learn which Portland Harbor fish they prefer to catch and eat.
The three agencies are planning ways to safely clean up the Willamette River and Portland Harbor. In addition to learning more about area anglers' fishing habits, officials want to know what health risks in the river and harbor most concern anglers.
ATSDR is a public health agency of the U.S. Department Health and Human Services.
When: Portland-area anglers are invited to talk with officials from the three agencies on Tuesday, November 27, 2001, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Additional meetings during the week are being planned. For more information, call the Oregon Department of Human Services, Public Health Branch, at (503) 731-4012. Or, contact ATSDR's Dan Holcomb toll free at 1-888-422-8737, extension 1745.
