The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) will host an open house meeting to gather community health concerns related to the Lincoln Park - Cotter Corporation site in Canon City, Colorado.

During the open house, ATSDR representatives will meet individually with community members to gather health concerns associated with the Lincoln Park site. In addition, the open house is an opportunity to introduce ATSDR representatives to the Lincoln Park community. The meetings will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sept. 22 at the Quality Inn & Suites, 3075 East Highway 50 in Canon City.

Health concerns gathered during the open house will be addressed in the upcoming public health assessment. The public health assessment is a report that will evaluate available data to determine whether people have come in contact with hazardous substances from the Cotter Corporation and to determine whether people are likely to experience adverse health outcomes from coming into contact with those substances.

Members of the community that have questions about the report or upcoming open house may contact Environmental Health Scientist Teresa Foster or Health Communication Specialist Yolanda Freeman at 1-888-422-8737.

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) released its public comment version of the public health consultations about lead exposure in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Canon City, Colo. Because sufficient data is not available, the agency needs to conduct follow-up testing to determine if lead exposures in neighborhood children pose a health hazard and if the levels of lead-contaminated house dust pose health hazards.
