The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) is seeking public comments on the health consultation on Chillum Perchloroethylene Site (Chillum Perc Site). The health consultation found that exposures to volatile organic compound (VOC) concentrations in indoor and outdoor air at the site pose no apparent public health hazard.

ATSDR cites that critical scientific data are lacking to determine whether increased rates of health effects from outdoor air pollution exist in and around River Terrace.

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will hold two public information sessions on July 13, 2004, about the River Terrace community site in Washington, D.C. The sessions are from 4:00-6 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the River Terrace Elementary School, 420 E. 34th St. NE, Washington, D.C. The same information will be presented at both sessions.

The final version of a public health consultation on the Chillum Gasoline/Perchloroethylene site in Hyattsville, Md., has been issued by ATSDR. On the basis of lack of data, the agency categorizes the Chillum site as an indeterminate public health hazard.

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) has prepared a public health assessment (PHA) to evaluate whether past, current, or future exposure to site contamination could cause harm to persons living near or going on the site. Washington Navy Yard (WNY) is an active military facility located in southeastern Washington, D.C. Comments from the community and other interested parties are received during the public comment period, which is open for 30 days. Comments received during this time become part of the administrative record for the PHA. Instructions for individuals who want to make comments are provided in this document.
