OccupationNot specified
Outcome/DiagnosisOccupational asthma
Activity InterventionRemoval from exposure to reactive dye. First and second follow-up examinations were conducted at 4.3(2.3) and 13.7(2.3) years (means (SD)) after the initial examinations.
Participation RateLimitation: no report of participation rate. There were a total of 11 patients with reactive dye induced occupational asthma enrolled in this study.
Intervention Effectiveness1. There is no significant improvement after patients were completely removed from exposure to RD over a 10-year period. 2. Reduced lung function did not recover after the cessation from exposure and proper pharmacological treatment. 3. Asthma severity and non-specific airway hyper-responsiveness to methacholine also did not improve over a period of 10 years, although skin reactivity to reactive dye almost disappeared over this time-frame.
