Outcome/DiagnosisSensitization and symptoms
Activity InterventionReduction in exposure (exhaust ventilation), Removal from exposure (median: 2.7 years)
Participation Rate41 of 55 eligible subjects (Participation rate: 75%)
Intervention EffectivenessNo statistically significant decreases were found for atopy, symptoms, and bronchial reactivity. Of the 41 subjects, 5 sensitized subjects were removed from exposure, with none having complaints of symptoms, and all showing lower bronchial reactivity (p=0.02). Of the 41 subjects, 7 sensitized subjects continued to work in the reduced-exposure environment. One of the 7 reported less symptoms with less bronchial reactivity.
