Shipped aliquots are preserved in water with 20% glycerol and sent using dry ice. Storing at ultralow temperatures (≤-70⁰C) is recommended. AR Bank frozen stocks are stable for years to decades when properly stored and handled. Mold stocks may be stored in water at room temperature, if needed (~15° to 25°C) for up to 5-10 years.

MICs obtained by broth microdilution performed per CLSI M38: Reference Method for Broth Dilution Antifungal Susceptibility Testing of Filamentous Fungi
MIC results for each antifungal agent for an isolate may commonly be ± 2 log2 (doubling dilution) different than what is posted on the CDC & FDA AR Isolate Bank website because this is the normal technical variability of antifungal susceptibility testing.
Device manufacturers and users of FDA cleared devices shall consult the FDA’s Antibacterial Susceptibility Test Interpretive Criteria       website for breakpoints recognized or recommended by FDA, and for information regarding FDA exceptions or additions to the applicable, recognized consensus standard.

PROPAGATION PROCEDURE

Remove the sample vial to a container with dry ice or a freezer block. Keep vial on ice or block. (Do not let vial content thaw)

Open vial aseptically to avoid contamination

Using a sterile loop, remove a small amount of frozen isolate from the top of the vial

Aseptically transfer the loop to SDA

Incubate inverted plate at 25- 30°C for 7 days or until observing growth
