Site: Galley-Normandy Galley
Violation: There was no backflow prevention device on the bucket fill station under the handwash sink. This was corrected.
Recommendation: Ensure that backflow preventers are installed when air gaps are impractical or when water under pressure is required.

Site: Potable Water-Starboard Evaporator
Violation: The reduced pressure backflow assembly that was installed on the high saline overboard discharge was continuously leaking from the relief valve. This was corrected during the inspection.
Recommendation: Ensure that backflow preventers are maintained in good repair.

Violation: The whirlpool recirculation lines, fresh water lines and potable water lines were all marked with similar blue striping with white arrows.
Recommendation: On the recirculation and fresh water lines, remove the blue striping with white arrows or add a secondary color to the blue striping.

Site: Potable Water-Cross-Connection Control Program
Violation: The cross-connection control program had separated the toilets and showers by deck. However, the program did not list the number of connections on each deck. Also, the program listed these connections as being protected by Watts S8C devices. The connections were protected by Oras non-continuous pressure devices.
Recommendation: Ensure the cross-connection control program lists the number of connections on each deck. Ensure the correct type of backflow prevention device is listed for each connection.

Violation: There was no backflow prevention device on the flexible shower hose in the medical facility. The shower hose could reach the drain, the deck and the sink.
Recommendation: Ensure that backflow preventers are installed when air gaps are impractical or when water under pressure is required.

Violation: The monthly sedimentation test for the sand filter was noted as being done on the records. However, the results of the test were not recorded.
Recommendation: Ensure that a written or electronic record of whirlpool spa filter inspection, backwashing, core sample sedimentation test, and shock halogenation (concentration and contact time) is maintained and available for review during inspections.

Violation: Per the time as a public health control plan, the walk-in refrigerator was on time control. There was no walk-in refrigerator in this area. There were two refrigeration units labeled time control. However, they were not listed on the time as a public health control plan. There were no set-up or discard times on the time as a public health control plan.
Recommendation: Ensure the time as a public health control plan reflects the operation at the mini galley and lists the set-up and discard times.

Violation: These food outlets were open for longer than 4 hours. Per staff, discard labels were used. However, there was no mention of discard labels on the time as a public health control plan.

Violation: There was an open area in the back of the technical space under the speed rail. This created a hard to reach void space between the back wall of the technical space and the bar front.

Violation: The rinse and final rinse curtains were soiled inside the dishwash machine.
Recommendation: Ensure that warewashing machines; the compartments of sinks, basins, or other receptacles used for washing and rinsing equipment, utensils, or raw foods, or laundering wiping cloths; and drainboards are cleaned: (1) Before use; (2) Throughout the day at a frequency necessary to prevent recontamination of equipment and utensils and to ensure that the equipment performs its intended function; and (3) If used, at least every 24 hours.

Violation: There were too many soiled items in the pot wash area. The soiled items were stacked all the way up to the deckhead and overflowing into the soup station and hot galley.
Recommendation: Ensure that drainboards, utensil racks, or tables large enough to accommodate all soiled and cleaned items that may accumulate during hours of operation are provided for necessary utensil holding before cleaning and after sanitizing.
