Site: Pantry-Deck 10 - Housekeeping 10754
Violation: The atmospheric bents of the backflow device for the ice machine were blocked with white and green residue.
Recommendation: Maintain backflow prevention devices in good repair.

Site: Medical-Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE) Surveillance Log
Violation: A food employee had AGE symptom onset at 1210 on 12 March 2025, but did not report to medical until 1618 later that same day. The medical log stated they were working when symptoms began and they immediately went to their cabin; however, the timecard indicated they were not working. It is unknown if the food employee was isolating during the four hours between symptom onset and reporting to medical.
Recommendation: When food employees meet the case definition for AGE, ensure the following actions are taken: (1) isolate in cabin or designated restricted area until symptom-free for a minimum of 48 hours. Ensure the food employee's supervisor or person in charge conducts an assessment of food prepared or served by the food employee while symptomatic and take appropriate corrective actions. Document corrective actions taken as a result of the assessment. Maintain records for 1 year and make them available for review during inspections. Review [when possible] any AGE cases among passengers or crew reported after the ill food employee?s symptom onset for epidemiologic link/connection. Appropriate corrective actions could include discarding ready-to eat food, thoroughly cooking raw food, and disinfecting the food area and equipment.

Site: Other-Garbage Room
Violation: A transportation cart containing eight coffee pots and three full trays of cookies covered with plastic wrap was pushed into the garbage room to dispose of a garbage bag that was stored on the bottom of the cart. It was unknown if the coffee pots were full.
Recommendation: Protect food from contamination that may result from a physical, chemical, biological origin.

Site: Galley-Deck 2 - Freezer
Violation: Frozen condensate formed on the deckhead hatches and the packaged food below. The food in the area was removed.
Recommendation: Protect food from contamination by storing the food: (1) Covered or otherwise protected; (2) In a clean, dry location; (3) Where it is not exposed to splash, dust, or other contamination.

Site: Buffet-Deck 11 - Windjammer Port Side Cold Line
Violation: The handles of the self-service serving tongs were touching the edible portion of the sliced watermelon out for passenger self-service.
Recommendation: During pauses in food preparation or dispensing, ensure food preparation and dispensing utensils are stored: (1) In the food with their handles above the top of the food and the container.

Violation: The ice cream dipper well did not have protection from possible contamination from passengers who could stand less than one meter away.
Recommendation: Install side protection for sneeze guards if the distance between exposed food and where consumers are expected to stand is less than 1 meter (40 inches).

Violation: A difficult to clean barcode label was on the food contact surface of the ice machine's deflector panel.
Recommendation: Materials used in the construction of multiuse utensils and food contact surfaces of equipment must be: (3) finished to have a smooth, easily cleanable surface.

Site: Buffet-Deck 11 - Windjammer Aft Beverage Station Port Side
Violation: The sealant around the legs of the countertop-mounted juice machine was peeling and in disrepair. Additionally, The juncture between the two countertops below the juice machine was not flush, creating a ledge.
Recommendation: Ensure nonfood-contact surfaces are free of unnecessary ledges, projections, and crevices, and designed and constructed to allow easy cleaning and to facilitate maintenance.

Site: Galley-Deck 11 - Windjammer Dishwash
Violation: Water leaked from the bottom of the dishwashing machine's wash compartment and onto the deck. Maintenance was there to fix the leak which was corrected before the end of the inspection.
Recommendation: Maintain warewashing equipment in good repair and proper adjustment, including: (1) warewashing equipment is maintained in a state of repair and condition that meets the standards of the materials, design, and construction of these guidelines.

Violation: The previously cleaned deli slicer had old food residue on the blade. The machine was sent back to be recleaned.

Violation: The inside surface of the exhaust hood overhang had an accumulation of dust and food debris. Cleaning started immediately.
Recommendation: Ensure nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment are kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.

Violation: The legs of the right storage rack were elevated by an extra deck tile, creating a rough ledge around the tile.

Violation: The left heat lamp bulb's protective coating was peeling. The crew replaced it immediately.
Recommendation: Ensure light bulbs are shielded, coated, or otherwise shatter-resistant in areas where there is exposed food, clean equipment, utensils, and linens, or unwrapped single-service and single-use articles.

Violation: Insects were found in the following areas: Deck 14 - High notes pantry one small fly. Deck 11 - Windjammer forward port side beverage station one small fly. Deck 11 - Windjammer line 4 one house fly. Deck 11 - Pool bar one small fly and three crawling insects inside the technical space below the right speed rack.
Recommendation: Effectively control the presence of insects, rodents, and other pests to minimize their presence in the food storage, preparation, and service areas and warewashing and utensil storage areas aboard a vessel.
