Abstract: This report presents the results of the cognitive evaluation of the 2015-2016 NCHS Research and Development Survey (RANDS) conducted by NCHS’ Division of Research and Methodology (DRM). RANDS was a two-round web survey designed as a vehicle for methodology research that primarily uses National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) questions in an effort to 1) explore how web panels may be used to eventually supplement NCHS’ address-based sample surveys, and 2) refine the use of targeted embedded probes to expand the findings from cognitive interviewing projects to a wider sample.
