Description

Recent discoveries in genetics promise to revolutionize our understanding of posttraumatic stress disorder. We will test whether these genetic vulnerabilities can predict course of this disorder in 8,000 responders to World Trade Center disaster. We also will use powerful genetic models to investigate whether systemic inflammation is responsible for worsening of posttraumatic stress symptoms, knowledge that can lead to development of new treatments.
