The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will hold a community meeting on July 20 to discuss environmental health investigation activities ATSDR has conducted in Oregon and the upcoming public health consultation on the Sun Oil Co. site.
The community meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the East Toledo Family Center, 1020 Varland Ave. (at the corner of Varland and East Broadway) in Toledo, Ohio. ATSDR representatives will update the community on site-related activities, including air monitoring, first outlined at an October 2003 community meeting.
Other partners whose representatives may attend the meeting include Ohio EPA, Ohio Department of Health, Toledo Environmental Services and the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department.
For more information, community members can contact Environmental Health Scientist Jennifer Freed or Health Communications Specialist Dawn O'Connor toll-free at 1-888-422-8737. Regional Representative Michelle Colledge also may be contacted at 312-886-1462. Callers should refer to the Sun Oil Co. site in Oregon, Ohio.
ATSDR evaluates the human health effects of exposure to hazardous substances. Atlanta-based ATSDR is staffed by more than 400 health professionals including epidemiologists, physicians, toxicologists, engineers and public health educators.
