Sera were made in mice by one injection or by one live virus injection following killed vaccine. NT was done with mouse hyperimmune sera except for Itaqui virus which was done with monkey immune sera. Results of NT given as LNI in dex. In a study involving 781 group C strains, Marituba strains could not be distinguished by CF from Apeu strains, but with selected sera they were consistently distinguishable by CF from the other group C types.
SIRACA considers Marituba virus to be a separate virus type; Murutucu and Restan viruses are considered to be subtypes of Marituba virus [14] .
