Resources for Toxicological and Health Professionals
  • Substance Priority List - Prioritization of substances based on a combination of their frequency, toxicity, and potential for human exposure at National Priorities List (NPL) sites.
  • Interaction Profiles - Succinctly characterizes the toxicologic and adverse health effects information for mixtures of hazardous substances.
  • Framework for Assessing Health Impacts of Multiple Chemicals and Other Stressors - Provides guidance for assessment of joint toxicity of environmental chemicals to determine whether exposure to chemical mixtures may impact public health.
  • Minimal Risk Levels (MRL) - The MRL is an estimate of the daily human exposure to a hazardous substance that is likely to be without appreciable risk of adverse, non-cancer health effects over a specified duration of exposure. The information in this MRL serves as a screening tool to help public health professionals decide where to look more closely to evaluate possible risk of adverse health effects from human exposure.
  • Systematic Evidence Map (SEM) -

ATSDR Systematic Evidence Maps (SEMs) are valuable tools that systematically capture and screen new literature published since the release of the Tox Profile, providing an interactive inventory of relevant research. Each SEM contains a literature flow diagram and interactive data visualizations of literature reviews.

In some instances, an SEM will be completed on a substance without an existing Tox Profile to help determine how much information is available on a substance of interest.

The full list of Tox Profiles can be found in the Toxicological Profiles section, under the A-Z Index.

  • ToxGuide - Quick reference guide providing information such as chemical and physical properties, sources of exposure, routes of exposure, minimal risk levels, children's health, and health effects for a substance.
  • Toxicological Profile - Succinctly characterize the toxicologic and adverse health effects information for a hazardous substance.
