Site: Medical-Medical - Gastrointestinal Illness Surveillance Logs
Violation: There were 3 separate GI logs where the start and end date for the cruise was not provided on the top of the log form.
Recommendation: Complete the GI log voyage information as detailed on the gastrointestinal illness surveillance log.

Site: Recreational Water Facilities-Kids Pool, Main Pool #3, and Solarium Pool #1
Violation: These pools meet the spa pool definition and are maintained as spa pools, but do not have signs posted which reflect the risk associated with use by people with adverse health conditions. RCI corporate has notified VSP of their intent to purchase new risk warning signs for all their ships with spa pools and the sign content was reviewed.
Recommendation: The spa pool halogen shall be operated and maintained according to whirlpool spa standards provided in sections 6.3.1.1.1 - 6.4.1.3.1, except that daily water change in section 6.3.1.2 is not required. If the spa pool uses only seawater, the daily shock in section 6.3.2.1.2 is also not required. Ensure that a sign is installed near the whirlpool spas that lists standard safety precautions and risks, warning against use by particularly susceptible people, such as those who are immunocompromised.

Site: Recreational Water Facilities-Roman Spa
Violation: The pool depth in the Roman Spa was 1.04 meters, yet there were no depth signs posted, no shepherds hook, and no floatation device for rescue of swimmers in distress.
Recommendation: Ensure that the depth of each pool is prominently displayed so that it can be seen from the deck and in the pool. Ensure that depth markers are labeled in feet or meters, or both,. Additionally, ensure that depth markers are installed for every 1 m (3 feet) in change of depth.

Site: Recreational Water Facilities-Kids Pool
Violation: Verify that the single drain in the kids pool (small slide) is not subject to pressure or suction during draining, as the drain cover is not anti-entrapment by design.
Recommendation: Ensure that anti-entrapment drain covers or other drains that prevent entrapment hazards as specified in U.S. Consumer Product Safety Publication 363-009801 (dual drains/channel drains) are provided on swimming pools and whirlpool spas. Ensure that drain covers have either the plumbing/engineering approving organization stamp and flow rate affixed to the cover, or that a letter is maintained aboard the vessel certifying that the cover meets the safety requirements outlined in AMSE/ANSI A112.19.8M or an equivalent standard.

Violation: There was a dead drain fly floating in a partially full bottle of gold rum in the pool bar pantry. The bottle and contents were discarded immediately.
Recommendation: Ensure that food is safe and unadulterated.

Violation: Two cans of juice (prune and vegetable) were found dented along the seams. These items were discarded during the inspection.
Recommendation: Ensure that food packages are in good condition and protect the integrity of the contents so that the food is not exposed to adulteration or potential contaminants. Ensure that canned goods with dents on end or side seams are not used.

Violation: The two steaming tubes from the cappuccino machine were not easy to remove for cleaning. It was not clear that they were ever removed and cleaned.
Recommendation: Ensure the food-contact tips of the steam tubes for the cappucino machine can be removed for cleaning.

Violation: One reach-in refrigerator and one reach-in freezer were posted out of order for the past month. The replacement compressors are on order.
Recommendation: Ensure that food contact equipment is maintained in a state of repair and condition that meets the materials, design, construction, and operation specifications of these guidelines.

Violation: The base of the hot holding cabinet had peeling sealant where food and debris could collect, making cleaning difficult.

Violation: The side of the starboard (fwd) waiter station wood surface was damaged, making cleaning difficult.

Violation: The bottom edge of the milk dispenser to the cappuccino machine had a gap where milk debris could collect, making cleaning difficult.
Recommendation: Ensure that nonfood-contact surfaces are free of unnecessary ledges, projections, and crevices, and designed and constructed to allow easy cleaning and to facilitate maintenance.

Site: Housekeeping-Passenger Cabins - Ice Buckets
Violation: Most of the ice buckets in passenger cabins had difficult to clean holes present along the bottom exterior surface, where a closed cap inserts. All ice buckets are scheduled for replacement throughout the ship, but to date there have been only 144 replacement buckets installed on decks 2 and 3.
Recommendation: Ensure that nonfood-contact surfaces are free of unnecessary ledges, projections, and crevices, and designed and constructed to allow easy cleaning and to facilitate maintenance.

Site: Bar-Bars - Weekend Warrior, Crown & Kettle English Pub, and Champagne Bar
Violation: There was a very large hole in the back panel of each of the undercounter technical compartments where the soda guns were installed in the front bar area. These openings allow access to the entire hollow section of the interior bar counters and allow for pest harborage. This is a repeat item from the last inepction.
Recommendation: Repair the hole in the back panel of the undercounter technical compartments of the front bar so the panel is tight.

Site: Galley-Main Galley - DK 3 - Potwash Area
Violation: There was an excessive amount of dirty pots and pans stacked on a number of extra racks and stands extending into the small corridor and on the back side (galley side) of the potwash area. This area lacked sufficient space for staging soiled items. A similar finding was noted in the previous inspection.
Recommendation: Ensure that drainboards, utensil racks, or tables large enough to accommodate all soiled and cleaned items that may accumulate during hours of operation are provided for necessary utensil holding before cleaning and after sanitizing.

Violation: The undercounter dishwasher was posted out of order for the past three weeks.
Recommendation: Ensure that warewashing equipment is maintained in good repair and proper adjustment including: (1) Being maintained in a state of repair and condition that meets the standards of the materials, design, and construction of these guidelines; and (2) Maintaining water pressure, and water temperature measuring devices in good repair and ensuring their accuracy within the intended range of use.

Violation: A water leak was noted in the deckhead around the light fixture inside the meat thaw box. A water leak was noted in the deckhead in front of the compressor in the prepared meat walk-in refrigerator. The water was dripping to the covered raw chicken bin below.
Recommendation: Ensure that a plumbing system in a food area is maintained in good repair.

Site: Housekeeping-Gymnasium
Violation: The men's changing, sauna, and steam room toilet was equipped with a handwashing station inside. The room was supplied only with an electric hand dryer, and there was no option for opening the door handle without making bare hand contact. Staff should also verify the female changing room for toilet room exit.
Recommendation: Equip public toilet facilities so that persons exiting the toilet room are not required to handle the door with bare hands. This may be accomplished by methods such as locating paper towel dispensers at sinks and waste containers near the room door, installing mechanically operated doors, door removal, or other effective means.
