Non-continuous pressure backflow protection devices were installed on the potable lines supplying coffee machines in the deck 11 midship pantry, deck 9 forward pantry, crew galley combination ovens, and Trident Bar coffee machine.
The potable water line supplying the juice machine and ice machine in the Trident Grill was not fitted with a backflow protection device.

Potable Water-

Violation:
The records for the disinfection of the potable water tanks noted the quantity of chlorine added to the tanks but not the concentration. Given this, it was not possible to determine the parts per million used during disinfection. Additionally, the record did not note that the tanks were flushed to 5 ppm or less prior to putting the tanks back into use.
|
|
Recommendation:
Ensure that documentation of any inspection, cleaning, disinfection (including concentration and contact time of disinfectant), and flushing is maintained for 12 months and is available to the VSP for review during inspections. Ensure that the disinfected parts of the system are flushed with potable water until the free residual halogen is at or below 5.00 mg/L (ppm).

Violation:
The comprehensive cross-connection control program did not list the potable water connections to the spray hose and detergent dispenser in the crew galley and potable water connection to the spa steam generator. The correct type of devices were installed on the potable water lines at these locations. The program listed Oras units were used on the lines supplying the spa showers but these devices were noted to be Socla units instead. The program listed Watts N9 units on the lines supplying coffee machines and combination ovens but during the inspection it was noted that Watts NLF9 devices were installed on the lines supplying the crew galley combination ovens and the deck 11 midship and deck 9 forward coffee machines.
|
|
Recommendation:
Ensure that the cross-connection control program includes at minimum: a complete listing of cross-connections and the backflow prevention method/device for each, so that there is a match to the plumbing system component and location, and an inspection frequency. Ensure that air-gaps are included in the listing.
