Violation: RECOMMEND ADDING A COLUMN FOR CHECKING AND LOGGING THE TEMPERATURE AFTER TWO HOURS.

Violation: THE 24 HOUR PRIOR TO ARRIVAL GASTROINTESTINAL ILLNESS REPORT WAS INACCURATE BY ONE PASSENGER FROM THE SHIP BOARD LOG. NO FOUR HOUR PRIOR TO ARRIVAL UPDATE WAS SUBMITTED.
Recommendation: 4.2.1.1.2 If the number of cases changes after submission of the initial report, an updated report shall be submitted no less than 4 hours before the vessel's arrival at the U.S. port.

Violation: THE POTABLE WATER, MICROBIOLOGICAL TESTING PROCEDURE WAS NOT APPROVED. MATERIALS FOR TESTING USING AN APPROVED METHOD WERE AVAILABLE ON THE VESSEL BUT THE INCUBATOR DID NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY FOR THE NUMBER OF TESTS BEING REQUIRED BY THE CRUISE LINE.
Recommendation: 5.6.1.1.2 Samples shall be analyzed utilizing a method accepted in Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater.

Violation: THE BACKFLOW PREVENTERS ON THE JUICE MACHINES WERE LEAKING.
Recommendation: These backflow preventers are not required on these juice machines and can be removed or they need to be replaced.

Violation: THE FREE HALOGEN RESIDUAL WAS NOT TESTED AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 4 HOURS DURING PRODUCTION OF POTABLE WATER.
Recommendation: 5.2.1.2.2 Free residual halogen monitoring shall be performed at least hourly during the bunkering of potable water and performed at least once every 4 hours during the onboard production of potable water.

Violation: A SHEPHERD'S HOOK WAS NOT PROVIDED AT THE POOLS.
Recommendation: 6.4.1.2.1 Easy access shepherd's hook and approved floatation device shall be provided at a prominent location near each public swimming pool.

Violation: THE WHIRLPOOL SPAS WERE NOT BEING SHOCK TREATED TO A 10 PPM HALOGEN RESIDUAL AND CIRCULATED FOR AT LEAST 1 HOUR AT THE END OF EACH DAY.
Recommendation: 6.3.2.1.1 The free residual halogen shall be increased to at least 10.0 mg/L (ppm) in whirlpool spas and circulated for at least 1 hour at the end of each day.

Violation: THE HEALTH RISK SIGN DID NOT WARN AGAINST USE BY PARTICULARLY SUSCEPTIBLE PEOPLE, SUCH AS THOSE WHO ARE IMMUNOCOMPRIMISED.
Recommendation: 6.4.1.1.3 A sign shall be installed near the whirlpool spas that lists standard safety precautions and risks, warning against use by particularly susceptible people, such as those who are immunocompromised.

Violation: A CORE SAMPLE FROM THE SPA SAND FILTERS WAS NOT BEING COLLECTED AND EXAMINED FOR EXCESSIVE ORGANIC MATERIAL.
Recommendation: 6.3.1.1.5 The granular filters shall be opened at least monthly and examined for cracks, mounds, or holes in the filter media. A core sample of the filter media shall be inspected for excessive organic material accumulation using a recommended sedimentation method.

Violation: TIME WAS USED AS A PUBLIC HEALTH CONTROL FOR POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS FOODS ON DISPLAY AT THE WINDJAMMER BUFFET, BUT NO WRITTEN PLAN FOR HOW THIS SYSTEM FUNCTIONS WAS AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW BY VSP.
Recommendation: 7.3.5.3.5 If time only, rather than time in conjunction with temperature, is used as the public health control for a working supply of potentially hazardous food before cooking, or for ready-to-eat potentially hazardous food that is displayed or held for service for immediate consumption: (1) The food shall be marked or otherwise identified to indicate the time that is 4 hours past the point in time when the food is removed from temperature control; (2) The food shall be cooked and served, served if ready-to-eat, or discarded, within 4 hours from the time when the food is removed from temperature control; and (3) The food in unmarked containers or packages or marked to exceed a 4 hour limit shall be discarded. 7.3.5.3.6 Written procedures that ensure compliance with these guidelines shall be maintained on the vessel and made available to the VSP, upon request.

Violation: SEALANT ALONG THE COUNTER BACK AND TOP WAS PEELING AND CREATING AN OPEN SEAM ALONG THE PORT AND STARBOARD SIDE JUICE STATIONS. SEALANT WAS PEELING ALONG THE STARBOARD SIDE JUICE DISPENSING PEDESTAL BASE AND COUNTER BELOW.
Recommendation: Repair or replace the sealant along this seam.

Violation: THE DRIP TRAY FOR THE ICE DISPENSING MACHINE WAS BROKEN MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CLEAN.
Recommendation: 7.4.2.2.6 Nonfood-contact surfaces shall be free of unnecessary ledges, projections, and crevices, and designed and constructed to allow easy cleaning and to facilitate maintenance.

Violation: NUMEROUS REFRIGERATOR DOOR GASKETS WERE SPLIT AT THE CORNERS MAKING THEM DIFFICULT TO CLEAN.
Recommendation: 7.4.2.1.2 Nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment and utensils shall be designed and constructed to be durable and to retain their characteristic qualities under normal use conditions. Seal these openings at the corners or replace the damaged gaskets.

Violation: THE FINAL SANITIZING RINSE TEMPERATURES, MEASURED AT THE MANIFOLD ON BOTH THE OFFICERS MESS DISHWASHING MACHINE AND THE CREW MESS DISHWASHING MACHINE WAS IN EXCESS OF 200° F.
Recommendation: Reduce these temperatures to between 180-195°F.

Recommendation: 7.5.6.2.3.1 The sanitizing solutions shall be used with the following concentrations: (1) A chlorine solution shall have a concentration between 50 mg/L (ppm) and 200 mg/L (ppm).

Violation: THE MULTI-FLOW GUNS AND OTHER MULTI-FLOW DISPENSING EQUIPMENT WERE FOUND IN CHLORINE SOLUTIONS WITH CONCENTRATIONS GREATER THAN 200 PPM.
Recommendation: 7.6.2.2.3 Poisonous or toxic materials shall be applied so that: (1) A hazard to employees or other persons is not constituted, and (2) Contamination including toxic residues resulting from drip, drain, fog, splash or spray on food, equipment, utensils, linens, and single-service and single-use articles is prevented.

Violation: THE TAYLOR FROZEN DRINK MACHINE WAS NOT BEING USED FOR DRINKS BUT WAS USED AS A STORAGE AREA FOR NON-FOOD ITEMS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CLEAN.
Recommendation: Recommend removing this unit from the vessel if it is not going to be used.

Violation: THE IPM PLAN DOES NOT CLEARLY STATE WHAT ECO LAB'S DUTIES ARE, BUT SUGGESTS WHAT THEY MAY DO AS A SERVICE. RODENT GUARDS ARE USED FOR EXCLUSION, BUT ARE NOT NOTED IN THE PLAN.
Recommendation: 8.1.1.1.1 Each vessel shall develop an Integrated Pest Management Plan to address effective monitoring and control strategies for pests aboard the vessel. 8.2.1.1.3 Incoming shipments of food and supplies shall be routinely inspected for evidence of insects, rodents, and other pests.

Violation: THERE WERE NO TRAINING RECORDS FOR THE SHIP'S STAFF WHO DO PERIODIC MONITORING OR APPLICATION OF PESTICIDES AND THERE WERE NO TRAINING CERTIFICATES FOR THE ECO-LAB PEST APPLICATORS.
Recommendation: 8.1.2.1.3 The training of the pest-control personnel shall be documented in the Integrated Pest Management Plan.

Violation: PROVIDERS DO NOT ASSIST CHILDREN WASH THEIR HANDS AFTER USING THE TOILET, AND THERE WERE NO SIGNS POSTED IN THE TOILET ROOM ADVISING THE PROVIDERS TO WASH THEIR HANDS AND THE CHILDREN'S HANDS AFTER ASSISTING CHILDREN USE THE TOILET.
Recommendation: 10.2.1.1.5 Signs shall be posted in children's toilet room advising the providers to wash their hands and the children's hands after assisting children use the toilet.
