Other-INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT (IPM)
|
Violation:
THE IPM PLAN DATED SEPTEMBER 2004 WAS UNCLEAR BECAUSE SOME LOGS REQUIRED, SUCH AS REQUEST LOG FORM AND MONITOR LOG FORM ARE NOT THE ONES USED ONBOARD. REQUEST LOG INFORMATION IS ON PEST CONTROL SERVICE LOG, AND MONITOR LOG INFORMATION IS ON A FORM TITLED TRAP TRACKING NUMBERING AND LOCATION FORM. ADDITIONALLY, THE PLAN DESCRIBES PESTS SUCH AS FRUIT, FLIES, FLIES, MOSQUITOES, BED BUGS, ANTS, AND RODENTS, BUT ONLY COMMENTS ON WHAT A PEST APPLICATOR TECHNICIAN CAN DO, RATHER THAN SPECIFICALLY DESCRIBING WHAT IS DONE ON THIS SHIP.
|
Recommendation:
Update the IPM plan and refer to the log forms currently in use in the plan for active monitoring of pests and for the inspection of monitoring devices. If a pest is identified in the plan for control, there should be specific detail of what measures are taken, how often, by whom, and where is it recorded. Only pests included in the monitoring activity should be listed in the plan, others can be provided in a separate annex.
