Site: Other-POTABLE WATER LINES
Violation: A non-pressure type of backflow preventer was installed on the potable water lines to the laundry washing machine.
Recommendation: Pressure type backflow preventers are required when a shutoff or solenoid valve is required after the connection. They must be the type that works under constant pressure.

Violation: Several food items were sitting on food trays which were stored directly on the deck.
Recommendation: During storage, food shall be kept on clean shelving or pallets at a height of at least 6-inches above the deck.

Violation: The ice machine condenser was cooled with sea water and was located above the ice bin.
Recommendation: Ice machines with condensers inside the units that are saltwater cooled must be converted to freshwater for cooling. As an alternative, condensers can be removed from within a unit and reinstalled on the outside to prevent possible contamination of the ice from leaking saltwater lines.

Violation: Non-food contact surfaces of equipment such as cabinets, shelving, ovens and ranges had open seams, rough unfinished wood, gaps and other non-easily cleanable features.
Recommendation: Surfaces of equipment not intended for contact with food, but which are exposed to splash or food debris or which otherwise require frequent cleaning, should be designed and fabricated to be smooth, washable, free of unnecessary ledges, projections, or crevices, and readily accessible for cleaning, and should be of such material and in such repair as to be easily maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.

Violation: Bulkheads, deckheads, and decks had non-easily cleanable features such as open seams, gaps, piping and wiring.
Recommendation: Decks, bulkheads, and deckheads in food preparation, warewashing, and storage areas, including pantries, shall be designed and constructed for easy cleanability, shall be corrosion-resistant, maintained in good repair, and kept clean.

Violation: The shield for the fluorescent light bulb above the ice well was broken, exposing the bulb to possible breakage.
Recommendation: Shielding to protect against broken glass falling into food should be provided for all artificial lighting fixtures located over, by, or within food storage, preparation, service, display facilities and facilities where utensils and equipment are cleaned and stored.
