Site: Buffet-Lido Beverage Stations
Violation: There were non-continuous pressure backflow prevention devices on potable water lines to the coffee machines in the port aft and starboard aft beverage stations. The devices were under continuous pressure. These devices were replaced.
Recommendation: Ensure that a continuous pressure-type backflow preventer is installed when a valve is located downstream from the backflow preventer.

Site: Potable Water-Cross-Connection Control Program
Violation: The cross-connection control program did not list the backflow prevention devices for the chemical dispensers or the air gaps for the mineralizer backwash drain and the water softener in the engine room.
Recommendation: Add these backflow prevention devices and air gaps to the cross-connection control program.

Violation: The air gap for the water softener was not twice the diameter of the supply pipe.
Recommendation: Ensure that air gaps are at least twice the diameter of the delivery fixture opening and a minimum of 3 cm (1 inch).

Violation: There was no sight glass or discharge point for backwashing of the hydropool. Per staff, this was an automated process.
Recommendation: Ensure that granular filters are backwashed at least daily. Repeat backwashing, if necessary, until the water viewed through the sight glass or discharge point is clean flowing.

Violation: There were two large painted circles covering the standard safety precautions and risks sign.
Recommendation: Ensure that a sign is installed near the whirlpool spas that lists standard safety precautions and risks, warning against use by particularly susceptible people, such as those who are immunocompromised. Ensure that this sign is not covered.

Violation: The pH level was measured at 8.3 at the hydropool. There was a passenger in the hydropool.
Recommendation: Ensure that the whirlpool spa water is maintained with a pH between 7.2 and 7.8.

Violation: The pH level was measured at 7.9 at the starboard forward whirlpool, 8.1 at the starboard aft whirlpool, and 8.2 at the portside aft whirlpool. There were passengers inside these whirlpools.
Recommendation: Ensure that the whirlpool spa water is maintained with a pH between 7.2 and 7.8.

Violation: Since September 23, 2009, the free residual chlorine and pH were recorded every 2 hours on the logs.
Recommendation: Ensure that residual halogen logs are maintained with residuals measured and recorded hourly during operation.

Violation: There was adhesive residual on the interior white panel of the ice machine. This machine was located across from the ice cream production area. This was corrected.

Violation: A block of raw wood was used as a door stop. This was discarded.
