The total number of passengers and crew listed on the AGE log was incorrect for voyages that began on 13 May 2023 and 20 May 2023. Staff were instructed to keep the total numbers on the log that were present on embarkation.

Recommendation:
Ensure the AGE surveillance log includes a header containing the following information about the voyage: (1) Vessel name; (2) Voyage number; (3) Date from; (4) Date to; (5) Total number of passengers; (6) Reportable total number of passengers ill; (7) Total number of crew; (8) Reportable total number of crew ill. Total number of passengers and total number of crew must be the totals at the beginning of the voyage (i.e., totals on ?date from?).

Potable Water-Suite Whirlpools

Violation:
Twenty-six stateroom whirlpools did not have backflow prevention devices to protect against possible backflow. These whirlpools were recently installed during the ship's drydock that completed on 11 April 2023. Staff presented a box of backflow devices that was just received by the ship.

Recommendation:
Provide a comprehensive cross-connection control program. Protect the following connections to the potable water system against backflow with air gaps or mechanical backflow prevention devices: cabin shower hoses, toilets, whirlpool tubs, and similar facilities; any other connection to the potable water system where contamination or backflow can occur.

The safety sign was not posted at the entrance to the spa pool. Two small safety signs were posted on bulkheads approximately 15 feet from the spa pool entrance and they were not easily visible.

Recommendation:
In addition to the safety sign requirements in section 6.7.1.1.1, install a sign at each whirlpool spa and spa pool entrance listing precautions and risks associated with the use of these facilities. Include, at a minimum, cautions against use by the following: (1) individuals who are immunocompromised; (2) individuals on medication or who have underlying medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or high or low blood pressure; and (3) pregnant women, elderly persons, and children. Additionally, caution against exceeding 15 minutes of exposure. Those under 16 years of age are considered children for the purpose of whirlpool safety sign requirements.
