IN THE FORWARD POOL ROOM, THE HOSE WAS BEING USED AT A LEVEL HIGHER THAN THE VACUUM BREAKER. VALVES WERE REMOVED AND ATTACHED HOSES WERE SHORTENED DURING THE INSPECTION.

Recommendation:
Ensure that an atmospheric vacuum breaker is installed only in the supply line on the discharge side of the last control valve. Ensure that a continuous pressure-type backflow preventer is installed when a valve is located downstream from the backflow preventer. Ensure that all discharges downstream of an atmospheric vacuum breaker are at least 6 inches (15 cm) below the level of the atmospheric vacuum breaker.

If the supplier provides any of the same fish species to the vessel in a fresh state, ensure there is some designation on the outer packaging for the parasite-free fish.
