Site: Potable Water-
Violation: A REVIEW OF THE COMPREHENSIVE CROSS-CONNECTION CONTROL PROGRAM NOTED THAT THERE WAS NO COMPLETE LISTING OF CONNECTIONS AND DEVICES. IN MANY INSTANCES THE VESSEL RELIES ON WORK ORDERS RATHER THAN A LISTING. CONNECTIONS PROTECTED BY AIR GAPS WERE NOT ON THE WORK ORDERS.
Recommendation: 5.7.1.1.4 Ensure that the cross-connection control program includes at a minimum: a complete listing of cross-connections and the backflow prevention method/device for each.

Site: Potable Water-
Violation: SEVERAL OF THE SMALLER DIAMETER POTABLE WATER LINES WERE NOT STRIPED BLUE IN THE ENGINE ROOM AND GARBAGE ROOM.
Recommendation: Ensure that potable water piping is painted light blue or striped with 15 cm (6 inches) light blue bands or a light blue stripe at fittings on each side of partitions, decks, and bulkheads and at intervals not to exceed 5 m (15 feet) in all spaces, except where the decor would be marred by such markings.

Violation: A FEW PREVIOUSLY CLEANED COFFEE URN LIDS WERE FOUND WITH INTERNAL SURFACES SOILED.
Recommendation: Ensure that food-contact surfaces of equipment and utensils are clean to sight and touch.

Violation: THE TEST RESULT LOGS FOR THE REDUCED PRESSURE BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES DID NOT NOTE THE LOCATION OF EACH CROSS-CONNECTION.

Violation: BACKFLOW PROTECTION DEVICES WERE NOT PROVIDED ON THE POTABLE WATER LINES SUPPLYING THE BEVERAGE STATIONS, FORWARD-STARBOARD SPA SHOWER, AND DIAPER CHANGE STATION SINK HOSE.
Recommendation: Ensure that backflow preventers are installed when air gaps are impractical or when water under pressure is required.

Site: Recreational Water Facilities-WHIRLPOOL SPAS
Violation: LAMINATED SIGNS WERE PLACED OVER THE METAL WHIRLPOOL STANDARD PRECAUTIONS AND RISKS SIGNS. THE LAMINATED SIGNS DID NOT WARN IMMUNOCOMPROMISED INDIVIDUALS WHILE THE METAL SIGNS DID.
Recommendation: Ensure that a sign is installed near the whirlpool spas that lists standard safety precautions and risks, warning against use by particularly susceptible people, such as those who are immunocompromised.

Site: Recreational Water Facilities-PASSENGER POOL #3
Violation: A LENGTH OF ROPE WAS NOT ATTACHED TO THE FLOATATION DEVICE.
Recommendation: Ensure that an easy-access shepherds hook and approved floatation device is provided at a prominent location near each public swimming pool. Ensure that a length of rope is added to the flotation device that is 50 feet or 1.5 times the width of the pool in length, whichever is less.

Site: Galley-DECK 6 COMBINATION OVEN AREA
Violation: FIVE DECK TILES AROUND THE COMBINATION OVEN WERE FOUND LOOSE WITH MOISTURE BETWEEN THE TILE AND THE DECK SURFACE.
Recommendation: Ensure that decks, bulkheads, and deckheads in food preparation, warewashing, pantries, and storage areas are constructed and maintained for easy cleaning.

Violation: GLOVES AND SANITARY WIPES WERE NOT PROVIDED IN THE TOILET ROOMS.
Recommendation: Ensure that each toilet facility is provided with a supply of toilet tissue, disposable gloves, and sanitary wipes.

Site: Galley-DECK 6 COMBINATION OVEN
Violation: THE EQUIPMENT LABEL WAS MISSING FROM THIS UNIT, MAKING CLEANING DIFFICULT.
Recommendation: Ensure that nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment that are exposed to splash, spillage, or other food soiling or that require frequent cleaning are constructed of a corrosion-resistant, nonabsorbent, and smooth material.

Site: Buffet-GARRDEN CAFE
Violation: THE ROLLS PLACED ON THE CORNER OF THE BUFFET WERE NOT FULLY PROTECTED. A PORTABLE SNEEZE GUARD WAS USED AT THIS LOCATION BUT IT DID NOT ADEQUATELY PROTECT THE ROLLS ALONG THE SIDES. THE BREAD AND CAKE SLICES ON THE KID'S CAFE BUFFET WERE NOT PLACED UNDER A SNEEZE GUARD.
Recommendation: Ensure that food on display is protected from contamination by the use of packaging; counter, service line, or salad bar food guards; display cases; or other effective means.

Site: Galley-DECK 5 COMBINATION OVEN AREA
Violation: RECESSED GROUT WAS NOTED AROUND THE COMBINATION OVENS, MAKING CLEANING DIFFICULT.
Recommendation: Ensure that decks, bulkheads, and deckheads in food preparation, warewashing, pantries, and storage areas are constructed and maintained for easy cleaning.

Site: Other-DECK 6 DINING ROOM
Violation: THE WAIT STATION DECK JUNCTURES WERE NOT COVED, MAKING CLEANING DIFFICULT. THIS IS A NEW REQUIREMENT IN THE 2005 VSP MANUAL.
Recommendation: Ensure that deck/counter junctures at buffets, bars, waiter stations, and dining room work counters are coved.

Site: Potable Water-
Violation: A REVIEW OF THE LOG NOTED THAT ON A FEW DAYS IN JULY, AND AUGUST THE FREE HALOGEN RESIDUAL DURING BUNKERING WAS LESS THAN 2.0 PPM WITH NO ACTION TAKEN. THIS LEVEL WAS NOTED FOR MORE THAN ONE HOUR DURING THESE DAYS.
Recommendation: Ensure that potable water is continuously halogenated to at least 2.0 mg/L (ppm) free residual halogen at the time of bunkering or production with an automatic halogenation device.

Site: Housekeeping-PUBLIC TOILET ROOMS
Violation: THE EGRESS FROM THE TOILET ROOM WAS NOT DESIGNED TO ELIMINATE BARE HAND CONTACT WITH THE DOOR HANDLE. A WASTE RECEPTACLE WAS PLACED AT THE INNER DOOR AND NOT THE OUTER DOOR OF THE TOILET ROOM.
Recommendation: 9.1.1.1.3 Ensure that public toilets are equipped so that persons exiting the toilet are not required to handle the door with bare hands.
