The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will hold two public availability sessions (open house format) at the Marina Inn, Fourth and B Streets, South Sioux City, Nebraska. The sessions will take place on Wednesday, July 26, 2000 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

The sessions are being done in response to a request by community members at the February 2000 public meeting to learn more about the 1999 hydrogen sulfide outdoor air monitoring results for Dakota City/South Sioux City. ATSDR staffers will be on hand with graphs to show the air data, and will be available to discuss the information and answer questions.

Public availability sessions are not large scale public meetings. No formal presentations will be made; however, staffers will be available to meet one-on-one with members of the community.

Results from ATSDR's recent neurobehaviorial health testing will not be available. That information is expected to be available in mid-2001.

Community members seeking additional information about the public availability sessions should contact ATSDR Community Involvement Specialist Ruby Palmer, toll free, at 1-888-422-8737. Callers should refer to the "Dakota City Health Investigation." ATSDR Senior Regional Representative Denise Jordan-Izaguirre in Kansas City can also be called for information at (913) 551-1310.
