The decks forward of the galleys on the port and starboard side lead into food lifts which service other food areas. The vinyl deck tiles were damaged, cracked, and not smooth on lobbies for deck 3, 4, and 5. Replaced tiles were also damaged. Trolleys were being used for these food transport areas and vinyl deck is not durable for these areas.

Ensure that decks, bulkheads, and deckheads in food preparation, warewashing, pantries, and storage areas are constructed and maintained for easy cleaning.
When these decks are repaired a hard, non-vinyl material should be used.

The deck 4 and 3 dining rooms had similar passenger activity, but there was a staff member observing them on those decks.

Medical staff were conducting 24 hour verbal interviews of asymptomatic cabin mates and immediate contacts of crew ill with gastro-intestinal illness. They were not conducting the verbal interviews 48 hours after the onset of the ill person's symptoms. Per the doctor, the asymptomatic cabin mate's supervisor would conduct the 48 hour verbal interview. The outbreak prevention and response plan stated "medical staff shall conduct verbal interviews daily with asymptomatic crew (close contact) until 48 hours until onset of the ill crewmembers symptom began. Records must be kept". This item was also noted on the VSP inspection made on 16 December 2006.
