FROM 7/23 TO 8/3, THE FREE CHLORINE RESIDUAL IN THE MAIN POOL WAS MEASURED ABOVE 3.0 PPM. ACCORDING TO THE FACILITIES STAFF, AN OUTBREAK WAS OCCURRING DURING THIS TIME AND IT IS COMPANY POLICY TO INCREASE THE FREE CHLORINE RESIDUAL ABOVE 3.0 PPM.

A free residual halogen of >1.0 and <3.0 mg/L (ppm) shall be maintained in recirculated swimming pools.
Scientific studies do not indicate that increasing the free residual halogen to above 3.0 ppm in the pools during an outbreak will be effective in controlling an outbreak. A level of 1000 ppm chlorine is needed to kill the norovirus.
