Violation: THE VESSEL DID NOT HAVE A SEPARATE LOG FOR THE SALE AND DISPENSING OF ANTIDIARRHEAL MEDICATIONS.
Recommendation: A separate inventory of the daily total, by quantity and type, of antidiarrheal medications sold or dispensed to the passengers or crew members in all areas of the vessel shall be maintained alongside the gastrointestinal illness surveillance log. Staff should review all areas of Chapter 4 Gastrointestinal Illness Surveillance and Annexes 13.2, 13.3, and 13.4. Of the VSP Operations manual.

Violation: THE RECORDER ANALYZER FOR THE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM HAD A CHART RECORDER WITH A RANGE OF 0 TO 2 mg/L (ppm).
Recommendation: Halogen analyzer-chart recorder charts shall have a range of 0.0 to 5.0 mg/L (ppm) and have a recording period of 24 hours.

Site: Other-POTABLE WATER MICROBIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS
Violation: THE MICROBIOLOGICAL TEST USED ON BOARD THE VESSEL DID NOT COMPLY WITH "STANDARD METHODS FOR EXAMINATION OF WATER AND WASTE WATER"
Recommendation: A minimum of four potable water samples per month shall be collected and analyzed for the presence of Escherichia coli. Samples shall be collected randomly from locations forward, aft, upper, and lower decks of the vessel. Reference 5.6.1.1.2 requires that the water samples taken be analyzed consistent with "Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater".

Violation: THE BACKFLOW PREVENTER BENEATH THE BEVERAGE STATION ON THE STARBOARD SIDE OF THE WINDJAMMER WAS LEAKING.
Recommendation: The potable water distribution system shall be maintained free of cross-connections with non-potable piping systems and tanks.

Violation: THE HALOGEN LEVELS RECORDED REQUIRE A CONVERSION CHART THAT REFERENCES A MILLI VOLT READING FOR A HALOGEN LEVEL BASED UPON A CERTAIN pH RANGE. THE CONVERSION CHART DOES NOT HAVE A pH RANGE OF 7.8 THAT IS FREQUENTLY LISTED FOR THE SPAS. THE MAXIMUM HALOGENATION LEVEL ACHIEVED AT A pH OF 7.8 IS BELOW THE REQUIRED 4.00 mg/l (ppm ) OF BROMINE.
Recommendation: Whirlpool spas shall maintain a free residual chlorine of >3.0 mg/L (ppm) and <10 mg/L (ppm), or a free residual bromine of >4.0 mg/L (ppm) and <10 mg/L (ppm).

Violation: THE BREAKFAST AREA WHERE TOAST IS MADE AND SERVED TO PASSENGERS DID NOT HAVE AN ACCESSIBLE HANDWASH STATION.
Recommendation: Each food preparation area, bar, warewashing area, and garbage-processing area shall have at least one handwashing facility located in it.

Violation: THE SOFT CAULKING AT THE DECK/BULKHEAD JUNCTURES WAS LOOSE IN MANY AREAS.
Recommendation: Decks, bulkheads, and deckheads in food preparation, warewashing, pantries, and storage areas shall be constructed and maintained for easy cleaning.

Recommendation: All food preparation, warewashing, and toilet rooms shall have sufficient ventilation to keep them free of excessive heat, steam, condensation, vapors, obnoxious odors, smoke, and fumes.

Violation: A WRITTEN INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT PLAN WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW.
Recommendation: Each vessel shall develop an Integrated Pest Management Plan to address effective monitoring and control strategies for pests aboard the vessel.

Violation: THERE WAS NO WRITTEN POLICY ON PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOWED EXCLUSION OF ILL CHILDREN.
Recommendation: Written guidance on symptoms of common childhood infectious illnesses shall be maintained in the child-activity center. The vessel is required to comply with all the elements that apply in Chapter 10 of the VSP Operations Manual covering Child Activity Centers.

Vessel Sanitation Program
