Item No.: 08
Site: Buffet-Deck 14 Oceanview Cafe Coffee Station (Portside)
Violation: Two backflow prevention devices on the potable water line for the coffee machines were heavily corroded. The corrosion was blocking the vents possibly rendering the device ineffective.
Recommendation: Maintain backflow prevention devices in good repair.
Item No.: 10
Site: Recreational Water Facilities-Pool Skimming Level
Violation: Water levels at the Lap Pool, Sports Pool, and Family Pool did not reach the top skimming level. The water level exceeded the lower skim level located inside the pool basin; however, it was not high enough to reach the skimmers above the beach level. Water on the beach level was approximately 3 inches below the top of the skim gutter. It was discussed with staff to either lower or raise the water to the upper skim level so that the top few inches of water are properly skimmed.
Recommendation: For RWFs with skim gutters, ensure that the fill level of the RWF is to the level of the skim gutters. Design recirculation systems and equipment, including chemical control equipment, UV disinfection systems, filter, and pumps to maintain adequate water chemistry control while operating at the following minimum turnover rates: (1) swimming pool (VSP 2005 Construction Guidelines or earlier): 6 hours; (2) swimming pool (VSP 2011 Construction Guidelines or later): 4 hours; (3) children's pool: 0.5 hours; (4) wading pool: 1 hour; (5) whirlpool spa: 0.5 hours; (6) spa pool: 2 hours; (7) interactive RWF or activity pool less than 610 millimeters (24 inches) deep: 1 hour; (8) interactive RWF or activity pool greater than 610 millimeters (24 inches) deep: 2 hours; and (9) baby-only water facility: 0.5 hours. Ensure an RWF slide that is combined with a pool has a turnover rate that matches the rate for the pool. This applies to wading or swimming pools but not to children's pools. The water for the slide must come directly from the basin of the pool and return directly to the basin of the pool. Flow rates from flow meters must be used to calculate turnover rates. Apply the most protective turnover rate for facilities that meet the definition of more than one type of RWF.
Item No.: 19
Site: Galley-Deck 3 - Soup Station
Violation: Water dripped from the exhaust hood overhang catch cylinder onto the left braising pan below. The lid of the braising pan was open, and the water splashed into food cooking at the time of the observation.
Recommendation: Protect food from contamination that may result from a physical, chemical, biological origin.
Item No.: 21
Site: Buffet-Deck 14 Waiter Station (Starboard)
Violation: The waiter station was in poor condition with chipped and peeling surfaces along the drawers which made the surface difficult to clean.
Recommendation: Design and construct nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment and utensils to be durable and to retain their characteristic qualities under normal use conditions.
Item No.: 22
Site: Buffet-Deck 14 Waiter Station (Portside)
Violation: There was an excessive amount of soiled dishware on trolley carts at this designated waiter station area. These trolley carts were also positioned on top of carpet to accommodate the extra carts needed. The area was not in operation during the time of inspection.
Recommendation: Ensure soiled items to be cleaned in a warewashing machine are loaded into racks, trays, or baskets or onto conveyors in a position that (1) exposes the items to the unobstructed spray from all cycles; (2) allows the items to drain.
Item No.: 27
Site: Galley-Deck 3 - Soup Station
Violation: Water dripped from the exhaust hood overhang catch cylinder onto the left braising pan below. The lid of the braising pan was open, and the water splashed into food cooking at the time of the observation.
Recommendation: Ensure nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment are kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.
Item No.: 33
Site: Galley-Deck 3 - Soup Station
Violation: Water dripped from the exhaust hood overhang catch cylinder onto the left braising pan below. The lid of the braising pan was open, and the water splashed into food cooking at the time of the observation.
Recommendation: Ensure decks, bulkheads, deckheads, and attached equipment in food preparation, warewashing, pantries, and storage areas are cleaned as often as necessary.
Item No.: 33
Site: Buffet-Deck 14 Waiter Station (Portside)
Violation: There was an excessive amount of soiled dishware on trolley carts at this designated waiter station area. These trolley carts were also positioned on top of carpet to accommodate the extra carts needed. The area was not in operation during the time of inspection.
Recommendation:
Item No.: 33
Site: Children Area-Deck 15
Violation: Three drinking fountains did not have hard decking underneath and could not reach at least 220 lux light intensity.
Recommendation: Ensure bulkheads and deckheads have smooth, hard finishes.
Item No.: 36
Site: Children Area-Deck 15
Violation: Three drinking fountains did not have hard decking and could not reach at least 220 lux light intensity.
Recommendation: Ensure the light intensity is at least 220 lux (20 foot candles) on food preparation surfaces, and at a distance of 75 centimeters (30 inches) above the deck in food preparation areas, handwashing facilities, warewashing areas, equipment, and utensil storage, pantries, toilet rooms, and consumer self-service areas.
Item No.: 39
Site: Galley-Deck 3 - Potwash
Violation: A small fly was in the area. The area was in operation at the time of the observation.
Recommendation: Effectively control the presence of insects, rodents, and other pests to minimize their presence in the food storage, preparation, and service areas and warewashing and utensil storage areas aboard a vessel.
Item No.: 39
Site: Buffet-Deck 3 - Pastry Station
Violation: A small fly was flying around the cakes out for self-service. The area was in operation. No food was impacted.
Recommendation: Effectively control the presence of insects, rodents, and other pests to minimize their presence in the food storage, preparation, and service areas and warewashing and utensil storage areas aboard a vessel.
Item No.: 39
Site: Bar-Deck 0
Violation: There was a moth in the handwashing station on the worker's side of the bar.
Recommendation: Effectively control the presence of insects, rodents, and other pests to minimize their presence in the food storage, preparation, and service areas and warewashing and utensil storage areas aboard a vessel.
Item No.: 39
