Site: Potable Water-GARBAGE ROOM
Violation: THE HOSE ATTACHED TO THE FAUCET ON THE SINK EXTENDED TO LESS THAN TWO PIPE DIAMETERS OF THE FLOOD RIM OF THE SINK.
Recommendation: Remove the hose or shorten it so that it is at least two diameters above the flood rim of the sink.

Site: Recreational Water Facilities-MAIN POOL
Violation: THE SHEPHERD'S HOOK WAS LOCATED HIGH ABOVE A WALL DIVIDER BETWEEN TWO ROWS OF LOUNGE CHAIRS, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO ACCESS.
Recommendation: Ensure that an easy-access shepherd's hook and approved floatation device (with a length of line 1/2 the pool width or 16 m (50 feet)) is provided at a prominent location near each public swimming pool. Place the shepherd's hook in a location where it can easily be reached by an adult.

Site: Recreational Water Facilities-
Violation: IN THE LOG FOR FECAL ACCIDENTS, IT WAS NOT CLEAR WHAT THE CHLORINE CONCENTRATION WAS DURING DISINFECTION.
Recommendation: Ensure that a written or electronic record is made of all fecal accidents. Ensure that the record includes the pool name, date and time of incident, response steps taken, the free residual halogen level achieved following cleaning, and the contact time.

Violation: IN THE RECORDS FOR THE KIDS POOL, THE FREE HALOGEN RESIDUAL AT THE TIME THE POOL WAS OPENED WAS NOT CONSISTENTLY RECORDED.
Recommendation: Record the free halogen residual prior to opening the kids pool. Ensure that bathers are not allowed to use the pool before a free residual halogen of 1.0 mg/L (ppm) is achieved. Record the free halogen residual prior to opening the kids pool.

Site: Galley-DECK 5 BAKERY
Violation: AN OPEN BAG IN BOX, BAG OF MILK WAS FOUND IN THE WALK-IN REFRIGERATOR THAT HAD BEEN OPENED, PARTIALLY USED, AND THEN RECLOSED WITH A STRING. THIS PRACTICE PROVIDES FOR POTENTIAL CONTAMINATION OF THE REMAINING MILK.
Recommendation: Provide smaller containers of milk for use in this area; or a bulk milk dispenser; or ensure that the entire contents are used at one time.

Violation: THERE WERE TWO BOXES OF JUICE CONCENTRATE THAT HAD BEEN OPENED, PARTIALLY USED, AND THEN PLACED BACK INTO THE WALK-IN REFRIGERATOR. THIS PRACTICE PROVIDES FOR POTENTIAL CONTAMINATION OF THE REMAINING JUICE.
Recommendation: Provide smaller containers of juice for use in this area; or dispense it from the multi-flow system; or ensure that the entire contents are used at one time.

Violation: THERE WERE SLOTTED FASTENERS NOTED BELOW THE LEFT CUBER IN THE UPPER COMPARTMENT OF THE ICE MACHINE.

Violation: TWO OF THE FINAL RINSE SPRAYER HEADS WERE CLOGGED. SPRAYER HEADS ON THE FIRST RINSE WERE NOTED ON THE LAST INSPECTION.
Recommendation: Ensure that warewashing equipment is maintained in good repair and proper adjustment including: (1) Being maintained in a state of repair and condition that meets the standards of the materials, design, and construction of these guidelines; and (2) Maintaining water pressure, and water temperature measuring devices in good repair and ensuring their accuracy within the intended range of use.

Site: Buffet-WINDJAMMER GLASSWASH
Violation: THE LOWER EDGE OF THE CURTAIN AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE GLASSWASH MACHINE WAS DAMAGED. THE LAST CURTAIN AT THE EXIT OF THE MACHINE WAS SOILED.
Recommendation: Replace the curtain at the entrance of the glasswash machine. Ensure that warewashing machines; the compartments of sinks, basins, or other receptacles used for washing and rinsing equipment, utensils, or raw foods, or laundering wiping cloths; and drainboards are cleaned: (1) Before use; (2) Throughout the day at a frequency necessary to prevent recontamination of equipment and utensils and to ensure that the equipment performs its intended function; and (3) If used, at least every 24 hours.

Violation: THERE WAS ICE IN THE HANDWASH SINK, INDICATING THAT THE SINK WAS NOT USED ONLY FOR HANDWASHING.
Recommendation: Ensure that handwashing facilities are used for no other purpose and are accessible at all times.

Violation: THERE WAS A GRAPE AND SOME PIECES OF PASTA IN THE DRAIN OF THE HANDWASH SINK LOCATED ON THE DIRTY SIDE OF THE FLIGHT-TYPE DISHWASH MACHINE, INDICATING THAT THE SINK WAS NOT USED ONLY FOR HANDWASHING.
Recommendation: Ensure that handwashing facilities are used for no other purpose and are accessible at all times.

Violation: THE IPM PROGRAM CONTAINED A WEEKLY PLAN THAT SCHEDULED CERTAIN INSPECTIONS TO BE CONDUCTED AT NIGHT. OFTEN, THE TIME OF THE INSPECTION RECORDED IN THE NIGHT TIME COLUMN WAS DURING THE DAY.
Recommendation: Ensure that the vessel's IPM plan, that includes night time inspections, is followed.

Site: Other-PUBLIC RESTROOMS
Violation: IN THE LARGER PUBLIC TOILETS, PERSONS HAD TO USE THEIR BARE HANDS TO EXIT. THIS IS A NEW REQUIREMENT IN THE 2005 VSP OPERATIONS MANUAL.
Recommendation: Equip public toilet facilities so that persons exiting the toilet room are not required to handle the door with bare hands. This may be accomplished by methods such as locating paper towel dispensers at sinks and waste containers near the room door, installing mechanically operated doors, door removal, or other effective means.
