International Classification of Diseases (ICD) Codes

Note: The following conditions are defined by specific ICD codes for eWoRLD mortality data. For some conditions, mortality data for earlier ICD revisions are not presented in eWoRLD because 1) these conditions were not originally included in earlier versions of the Work-Related Lung Disease (WoRLD) Surveillance Reports, which focused on lung diseases associated with mining (e.g, Pneumoconioses) and 2) information on industries and occupations were not available from the National Center for Health Statistics multiple cause-of-death data files to determine proportionate mortality ratios.

1 Deaths with underlying cause coded as J65 (Pneumoconiosis associated with tuberculosis) are included in the underlying cause-of-death tabulation if code A16, A19, or B90.9 (collectively defined as "Respiratory Tuberculosis" in eWoRLD) is listed on the entity axis. Deaths with J65 coded as a cause of death on the entity axis are included in the entity axis multiple cause-of-death tabulation if none of the following codes are listed as a cause of death on the entity axis: A16, A19, and B90.9.
2 All codes for this rubric are included in the defined condition "Respiratory Tuberculosis", except for A16.0 and A16.1.
