  • Control of respirable dust and crystalline silica from breaking concrete with a jackhammer

    Results of NIOSH project to work with highway contractors to facilitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), where appropriate. This study focused on PPE worn on the head and face. Researchers determined airborne levels of certain dusts and vapors at a worksite, ways that some PPE items may interfere with other PPE items, as well as other concerns encountered with the PPE.
