A Review of Adult Asthma Hospitalizations in Louisiana, 2006-2011
Adult (15 years and older) asthma inpatient hospitalization data from the Louisiana Inpatient Hospital Discharge Database (LAHIDD) were reviewed from 2006-2011. There were 21,398 total hospitalizations, with 14,401 unique cases. Data were stratified by race-sex. White females had the greatest number of hospitalizations, but black females had the highest age-adjusted case rates. Geographically, rural parishes had higher rates than urban parishes.
