The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) has released its final public health assessment for the Leeds Metal site in Leeds, Maine (ME). The report finds that more study is needed to determine whether the community was or is being harmed by possible exposures at the site.

A report released by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) says residents living near and around the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNS) in Kittery, Maine may have been or are currently being exposed to environmental contaminants at levels not likely to cause health effects. The report, called a public health assessment will be available for public review and comment through October 30, 2006.

A public meeting will be held Sept. 25 to discuss the results of ATSDR's public health assessment at the Eastland Woolen Mill site in Corinna, Maine, near Bangor. No apparent public health hazard currently exists at the former woolen mill. However, the site posed a public health hazard in the past.

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, today is releasing a draft public health assessment (PHA) for the Callahan Mining Corporation NPL Site in Brooksville (Cape Rosier), Maine, to evaluate whether exposure to site contamination could cause harm to persons living near or visiting the site. The document will be available for public comment at a local repository until March 15, 2003, which represents an extended public comment period to allow full participation of the community. An electronic version of the document is also available.

Department of Health and Human Services, has prepared a Public Health Consultation for the Bucks Harbor Air Force Radar Tracking Station site. A Public Health Consultation is a way for ATSDR to respond quickly to a need for health information on toxic substances and to make recommendations for actions to protect the public's health.
