This photograph depicts light colonial growth displayed by Gram-negative, Brucella abortus bacteria, which was grown on a medium of sheep blood agar (SBA), for a 24 hour time period, at a temperature of 37°C. See PHIL 12372, for a closer view of these bacterial colonies. Members of this genus, including B. abortus, cause a disease known as brucellosis.
