Caption:
Running a differential diagnostic investigation on a suspected syphilis patient revealed that this patient’s cutaneous lesions were due to a condition known as mycosis fungoides, a T-cell, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that arises in the skin. Mycosis fungoides is also known as Alibert-Bazin syndrome or granuloma fungoides, which affects the skin, can migrate internally over time. Though the name means mushroom-like fungal disease, it is not caused by a fungus, but rather a form of blood cancer, which is derived from lymphocytes.
