This image reveals the inner mucous membranes of the upper eyelids of a young child that exhibited symptoms of what is known as pyogenic conjunctivitis, which based on the data accompanying this image, was of unknown etiology. Note the marked inflammation of the eyelids, and the pustular exudate that had made its way unto the outside of the lower lids, especially on the child’s left side.
