Caption:
This Petri dish culture plate contained a selective medium of kanamycin-menadione blood agar, which had been inoculated with an inoculum originating from a cervical swab culture specimen. The culture had given rise to pigmented colonies of Prevotella melaninogenica, formerly known as Bacteroides melaninogenicus bacteria. Any potential colonial growth of Streptococcus spp., and Lactobacillus spp. bacteria had been inhibited. The culture dish was incubated for a 5-day period at a temperature of 35°C.
