This patient’s cutaneous lesions were determined to be a condition known as mycosis fungoides, a T-cell, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that arises in the skin. Mycosis fungoides, also known as Alibert-Bazin syndrome, or granuloma fungoides, is a rare form of cutaneous T-cell, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that usually affects the skin, but can migrate internally over time. Though the name means mushroom-like fungal disease, it is not caused by a fungus, but rather a form of blood cancer, which is derived from lymphocytes.
