Caption:
This photomicrograph of a trichrome-stained sample of pus, revealed some of the cellular constituents that were present. Pus is composed of white blood cells (WBCs), otherwise known as leukocytes, necrotic cellular debris, and thin, watery serous fluid. If created in response to a pathogenic organism, or a foreign substance, evidence of those constituents would also be visible.
