Caption:
This image depicts the volar surface of a patient’s left forearm, revealing a large red spot, which had formed at the site he’d received a skin test, involving an injection of coccidioidin, or spherulin, in order to determine the presence of Coccidioides antigen. This skin test will indicate whether or not the patient was exposed to a Coccidioides fungal organism. In this case, the reaction showed a positive result.
