This is the fifteenth in a series of images, PHIL 16989 through 17013, depicting a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Public Health Library and Information Center (PHLIC) exhibit entitled, Bringing the World Home: CDC’s Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) Celebrate Peace Corps Week 02/23/14 – 03/01/14. Acquired by RPCV, Aimee Schattner, this is a bag that contains a drink that is commonly consumed by village elders on the island country of Fiji, located in the South Pacific Ocean. The traditional Fijian drink known as Yaqona, is made from the Kava root, and is a cash crop in the island nation. Ms. Schattner was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya from 2002–2005.
