This historic illustration was created by the United States government in order to promote the treatment of malaria, by advocating the use of chloroquine as a preventative method for the disease caused by Plasmodium vivax, P. ovale, and P. malariae. The poster is entitled, “avoid MALARIA”. A bikini-dressed woman is seated, resting on her feet, and talking on a telephone, as she recites the following quote, “IF YOU HAVEN’T HAD IT,.. YOU WON’T GET IT,… IF YOU USE CHLOROQUINE!” .
