This 2013 image was created by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC), Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer, Dr. Carolyn Sein, who was “blown away” by the pride that this health worker in Madagascar took in doing her job. In this particular view the healthcare worker was administering a dose of Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccine to a newborn infant, during an outdoor immunization session in Madagascar's unrelenting heat. Note the very small syringe and needle used to administer the miniscule dose of vaccine to this infant.
