This image depicts a close view of a patient’s right inguinal region, that exhibited a lesion known as a lymphatic bubo, which was in the process of being aspirated by a healthcare professional. Note that purulent fluid was being drawn up into the barrel of the syringe, which was being extracted from within the swollen lymph node. A differential diagnostic study rendered a diagnosis of lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), caused by the bacterium, Chlamydia trachomatis.
