This 2012 photograph by Daniel Streicker, depicts a public health field technician examining a captured Peruvian bat, during a recent study entitled, “Evidence of Rabies Virus Exposure among Humans in the Peruvian Amazon”, which strongly suggested that vampire bats had been the source of rabies virus exposure, for two Amazon communities in Peru.
