Caption:
This female patient presented to a clinical setting exhibiting this vaginal cyst, which upon detailed examination, was determined to be a Bartholin’s gland cyst, and contained the mucous secretion normally produced by this gland. The paired Bartholin’s glands lie just posterior to the vaginal introitus, each with its respective duct that opens on either side of the introitus. When the duct of a Bartholin's gland becomes clogged, the mucous fluid produced by the gland accumulates within the gland, thereby, forming a cyst like the one depicted here.
