These two public health field workers were photographed, as they were surveying the remains of the Limau Kasturi Health Center, located in Gua Musang District, Malaysia, which had been destroyed after a massive flood. The natural disaster hit eight districts in Kelantan, Malaysia on December 24, 2014. Limau Kasturi was one of the seven health facilities that had been wiped out during the flood. The flood caused more than 200,000 people to be evacuated. The FETP trains workers on the ground to help countries build sustainable capacity for detecting and responding to health threats. The program develops in-country expertise, so that disease outbreaks can be detected locally, and prevented from spreading.
