Captured in September 2014, this photograph depicts a number of Egyptian Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) residents, in the process of reviewing hospital records during an investigation of a severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) infection outbreak at Hurghada General Hospital, located in the Red Sea Governorate of Egypt. The FETP trains workers on the ground to help countries build sustainable capacity for detecting and responding to health threats. The program develops in-country expertise, so that disease outbreaks can be detected locally, and prevented from spreading.
